Hello Shed Fans.
It’s been a busy November for everyone in the Shed industry. Shed installers are flat out through March and some manufacturers have started night shifts in order to despatch metal building kits before the holidays.
A looming steel price increase is set for the first of March 2021 for the shed industry. Lysaght has announced a 4.50% price increase to Colorbond steel matt, metallic steel, stainless steel and Coolmax steel. A 4.50% price increase will also be applied to insulation, colour & unpainted accessories, fasteners, roof mesh, polycarbonate roof sheeting and roller doors… essentially everything that goes into a shed except the purlins.
Obviously, this is creating a lot of complaints in the shed industry, particularly off the back of record-breaking shed sales since the Coronavirus pandemic began, and on top of a record-breaking stimulus package provided for the manufacturing industry.
This month, our engineering team achieved significant steps in finalising many aspects of our designs that are now being implemented into the software. Every design is tested and retested for strength and the ease of construction. We also finalised HiTen’s roller door framing design which is perhaps the most practical way to install roller doors. Our engineers collaborated with some of the industry’s best installers to make a practical design that is construction friendly. Our design utilises zed purlins for the roller door jambs and a cee purlin for the door header. The strength and ease of installation of this system allows us to utilise the design on both large industrial doors and on smaller garage doors.
Lastly, we can confirm we have now entered into national supply agreements with the four largest roll forming manufacturers across Australia. Lysaght, Stratco, Metroll & Stramit each supply high-quality, BlueScope steel with Colorbond roof and wall panels. HiTen’s software will design and engineer metal buildings to all four of the manufacturer’s individual components.
