G’day Sheddies,
I know everyone is covered up at the moment, but please read below regarding the latest supplier and software updates.
Lysaght – A new price file is due next week from Lysaght. It will take another week to implement the new price file in our software.
Larnec – Price increase has been applied to ACT and we have negotiated better freight rates for volume orders. The new freight rates should be implemented into ACT by the end of the month.
Laser Central – Freight price rise announcement in QLD & NSW where deliveries are spotty due to road closures, flooding and recovery efforts.
Stratco – Our price file will soon be uploaded into Stratco’s new ERP software and a price correction is imminent. Stratco has agreed to protect your current sold jobs but they need to be placed in the next 30-45 days. Our QLD State Mgr is sending out an email to those in South East Queensland that buy from Stratco, asking you to provide the job number, customer name, and expected order entry date (week of) so that Stratco can hold the current rates for expected orders. Please send your list by this Friday, 11/03/22.
Stramit – Stramit has advised they will not be able to accept orders from HiTen distributors in April as was expected. I’m told their supply and human resource issues have not improved and they are struggling to supply their current customers. We will revisit Stramit in six months’ time.
Reflective Insulation – Price increase has been applied to ACT. Name change from RFI to Reflective is still pending.
Continuous Purlin Checks – What is this? The continuous purlin check option in the engineering tab applies a 10-15% lap on the roof purlins. Lapped purlins can make building sheds easier. Talk to your installers and ask if they prefer lapped purlins or simple-span, non-lapped roof purlins.
Western Australia – I’m told there is no C300-C400 coil currently available in WA at the moment and the inventory is still sitting on the ship. Apparently, pandemic related necessities get prioritised at the port in WA. Once it is released, I’m betting supply will go quickly so it might be a good idea to design sheds with B2B C200-C250 frames when you can to avoid delays.
ACT Software Training – The following training video is particularly important for placing doors in the end walls and eliminating warnings. If you haven’t already seen this training video, please watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQqBz0Ty9Ww. Why do we do it this way? Because in ACT, we can rotate our end wall columns and use them for roller door jambs, eliminating unnecessary steel in the end wall, which makes the shed cheaper. If you have recently signed up with us, please contact Support or myself to schedule online training. Allow 60-90 minutes for this very helpful training course.
Moment Frame designs and cast-in brackets have been released for Automatic Engineering in the latest update.
New Programmer – ACT has hired a new lead software developer that will manage the development team in Australia. I think that makes nine full-time software developers now. I’m very excited about what’s coming this year in shed design software development.
Flooding – Tens of thousands of homes have been affected by recent flooding, and we all know someone that is hurting. Please help where and when you can and expect delays while those affected in our industry clean up and rebuild their lives. This will surely put a further strain on human resources as many people will go to work for the insurance companies to rebuild flooded properties.
Thank you.
Chris Lynch
